Redfin is unique in the sense that our agents are paid on a salary rather than commission like traditional agents. There are a few scenarios when Redfin agents cannot directly help, such as the property being below our minimum price threshold. In those cases, you may be referred to a Redfin Partner Agent.
A perk of the efficient Redfin business model is we are able to offer a 1%-1.5% percent listing fee for sellers and the Redfin Refund for buyers by giving the savings back to the customers*. To offer these benefits to our customers we must set a minimum commission to make sure that we can continue to provide the best possible service to our current customers.
When looking at homes to buy on Redfin, if a property is below our minimum commission, we'll let you know with the below disclaimer found to the right of the listing photos of the home. Because we're not able to directly assist with these properties, you'll be offered to contact the listing agent directly for more information.
*1% listing fee not available in all markets. Buyer's agent commission not included. Listing commission increased by 1% of the sale price if the buyer is unrepresented. Redfin Refund is not available where prohibited by law, including in Alaska, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Tennessee.
Subject to lender approval and minimum commissions. For more information regarding our minimums click here
