Instant or Daily Updates

Instant Updates via Email

Redfin will allow you to sign up for alerts that will be emailed directly to you according to your specific search criteria.

1. From the website, enter your target neighborhood, city, school, or zip code in the search box. To narrow down your search, click the Filters button located just above the map.

2. After you click on 'Save Search' select 'Instantly' from the pop-up menu.

You will now receive an email immediately whenever a listing that matches your search comes on the market or is updated.

Changes to Update Frequencies and Push Notifications

To change the settings for how often you receive updates, go to Email Settings in My Redfin. If you are not signed into your Redfin account, you will be prompted to sign in. From here you will see the types of alerts set up on your account with the ability to change them to daily or instant. Within your Email Preferences section, you can adjust the type of updates you receive.

Save changes when you're finished. You can also make adjustments on-the-go using our mobile app and in particular configure the push notifications that you would like to receive.

starting on the third page after opening the initial e-mail the site becomes as complicated as any I have ever seen, I think it is a propaganda ploy to keep a person on their web site  and navigating as long as possible,  the more time a person speends on this site the less time will be spent on a easier to navigate site..

Regarding favorited homes. Does redfin send a notification once the price has changed? Also favorited homes that are "Pending" once that status changes to sold or back on the market, are we notified?

    Hello Teri,

Thanks for using Redfin! Yes, you can receive notifications on your Favorited homes. Just make sure that you setup that information in your account to receive emails for those updates.

You would do that under the 'Alerts and Emails' section on your Redfin account.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

The "Push" checkbox to be alerted instantly on your mobile device, cannot be selected. The checkbox is disabled so I cannot selected. Is this feature broken?

    Hello Lia,

Thanks for letting us know that you are having trouble with the website. Can you please email us at techsupport@redfin.com with some more detailed information?

We would need to get the information about your internet browser, the type of phone you are using (Android or iPhone), and if you have the app downloaded on your phone and if you are signed into your Redfin account on the app.

Once we get that email from you, we should be able to figure it out!

    Thanks!

Hi there,  I used to get alerts and notifications on homes but for some reason, the last week, I stopped getting them on my iphone.  I even went into settings and checked to make sure I received notifications and everything was checked, but I'm still not receiving them.  How can I fix this?

    Thanks so much.

What does the "push" option do? I understand "daily" and "instant". But I do not understand what "push" does. Nor can I find information in the "help" section.

Thanks in advance for your answer

How do I stop receiving notifications for areas I'm no longer interested in? For example, a couple weeks ago I briefly looked at houses in the Knoxville, TN area. I no longer want to look there but I'm still receiving new home notifications for houses in that area

    Hello Greg,

Thanks for writing in! Sounds like you may be receiving recommended for you alerts. Our "recommended for you" feature takes into consideration every property you have ever looked at, and every property you have favorited. While it can be useful for showing you homes you may have never considered in a search, I understand it can also be frustrating when it recommends homes that are outside of your actual search preferences.

You can always unsubscribe from the "alerts and emails" portion of your profile. Just hover the cursor over your name, click on email settings, scroll to the recommended for you section and turn the dial to off.

    Thanks!

    Malissa

Actually, Greg shouldn't have to unsubscribe from his alerts to avoid this issue.

Redfin should upgrade its dashboard to allow Greg to customize his searches to specific zip codes.

Is there a way to edit the areas you get notifications on new homes? I have a couple of searches saved, but also looked at homes in another city. Now I'm getting notifications for homes in that area, but I don't plan to buy there. I'd like to get notifications for homes that match my saved searches.

As I read through the history of complaints about the search and settings complications associated with the Redfin website, I am stunned that Redfin is so lackadaisical.

The Redfin brand is solely dependent on internet traffic as a means for building image, real-estate sales, and good will for the real-estate industry.

Yet it appears as though a fair number of people who use the Redfin site as a way to discover real estate find it purely frustrating and difficult.

Redfin management, take heed: get serious about your site, fix the bugs, and please - spare us the gratuitous responses from your front-line monitors who are rarely helpful, often requiring the user to go to great pains to try to explain themselves to try to achieve results.

    Hi Christian and Ted,

Thanks for reaching out about this!

Christian, you sound like you are referring to our recommended for you feature. You can't edit the searches on the website, but you can create new ones and just delete the old one. I would log on and go to your saved searches and hit the pencil and you'll have the option to delete those unwanted searches.

Ted, I will add these additional comments to our developers about your feedback. Feel free to email us at techsupport@redfin.com if you have some specific information on the issues with our search and settings you would like to add.

    Thanks!

I'm going to join the list of others asking you to fix this. Please let us edit the "new homes" by location. I looked up houses in my own neighborhood where we are selling our home and now these new homes where I currently am keep popping up. It is very frustrating.

Thanks for reaching out about this! I was wondering if you have created any saved searches? If you do that, it will give you better alerts for those locations you are looking in. If you need some more assistance feel free to contact us techsupport@redfin.com

Let us know and we should be able to help out!

    Thanks!

My instant email updates are not being pushed to my email. It seems to work okay in the mobile app, but not email alerts. I should note, when I leave the email settings page and go back in the *saved searches email preferences* are unchecked. I've re-checked all boxes and when I come back in the boxes are again all unchecked.

    Help!

Adding my name to the growing list of people who would love to be able to edit the "new homes" algorithm! No, it's not my saved searches. No, it's not my favorited homes. It's a random city that I was curious about, and now whenever I see a number next to "new homes" I get excited...only to see that they're in that one random city. Really annoying, and discourages people from using the app if it's irreversible.

    Hello Gan,

Thanks for writing in and sharing your feedback. The " New Homes" feature takes in to consideration every property you have ever looked at, and every property you have favorited.

The more you look at houses you like (and are realistic to your preferences) the more accurate your recommendation will be. It may also be a good idea to look through your favorites and saved searches to make sure they match your current home preferences, and remove any properties that don't fit any more.

I want you to know that I am sharing your feedback with our developers. We really appreciate you taking the time to write in with your suggestions!

    Best,

    Malissa

It would seem that your developers don't consider users being shown properties in areas we are no longer interested in much of an annoyance. I can assure you it is. I can't tell you how many people I know have switched to Zillow for that reason. Redfin has wasted a substantial amount of its users' time--not smart. Instead of telling us how you'll forward our message to tech support, why don't you say if and when this matter is going to be resolved?

I'd also like to chime in about this. I will look up houses I walk by to see how close they are to what I'm looking for or to see what that type of house in that neighborhood goes for. Now the New Homes function on my phone is showing properties well outside of my price range. I found this page looking for the settings page to fix the issue or at least get to just reflect my saved search.
